We're moving the Wednesday Bird Walk on Jul 22 to 6AM to avoid the heat!
Yuma Audubon hosts field trips to nearby birding destinations in winter and spring (when the desert heat is absent or still bearable). Most trips are lead by our docent member, Wayne Bowers.
In our recent trips, our members visited Cibola National Wildlife Refuge, Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, Picacho State Recreation Area, Sonny Bono National Wildlife Refuge.
Every winter, we participate in the National Audubon Society's Christmas Bird Count. The tradition first started on December 25, 1900, with only 27 observers in 25 locations in the U.S. and Canada.
Now tens of thousands people, including Yuma Audubon Society members, come together across the hemisphere to count birds as part of one of the longest-running formal citizen science surveys in history.
